Safe Haven Sunday
Inspired by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) formal statement, Create in Me a Clean Heart: A Pastoral Response to Pornography, Safe Haven Sunday is a weekend (March 8-9) set aside within the liturgical calendar by dioceses and parishes to directly address the societal harms of pornography. Within the context of the Mass, parishes are able to provide teaching and resources that will support and protect individuals, marriages, and families in making all homes a safe haven. Mass of Remembrance and Healing for the Loss of a Child from Pregnancy through Adulthood – Sunday, March 23, 10:00 am
Bishop Carl Kemme will be the celebrant and homilist at this special memorial Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 430 N Broadway St, Wichita, KS 67202. A special invitation is extended to parents, grandparents, and siblings who grieve the death of children as a result of miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion, early infant or child death, including adult children. These losses may be recent or extend over many years. A ceremony for families will take place during the Mass and a reception in the gathering space will follow. Parents will have an opportunity to add their child’s name to a Book of Remembrance before Mass begins. Those parents who would like to have their child’s name added to the Book of Remembrance may call the Office of Marriage & Family Life at 316-685-5240. A child’s name can be included on the list even if the family members are unable to attend the Mass.

Engaged Encounter Is a Catholic Christian marriage preparation program for couples seeking the Sacrament of Marriage. It is a weekend program free of the tensions, pressures, and interruptions of daily living. The program is based on Catholic teachings and values and emphasizes the couple relationship in terms of a lifetime commitment, utilizing tools for practical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
