Lenten Day of Reflection – March 9th 9 am – 1 pm Spiritual Life Center

Join the Office of Marriage and Family Life Senior Adult Ministry for this beautiful day of reflection. All adults welcome! Fr. Nicholaus Jurgensmeyer and Fr. Roger Lumbre will give reflections. Following the talks, there will be a celebration of Mass, a luncheon, recitation of the rosary, and opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Mother Angeline Ministry of Care Trainings with Carmelite Sisters of the Aged and Infirm– March 24 & 25 | Spiritual Life Center

The Minister of Care program begins with instruction in pastoral visits, active listening the spirituality of aging, family dynamics, and how to engage the homebound and the sick. Ministers who have a strong moral character and possess the ability to interact with elders will be assigned by the Parish or Diocese to visit persons who are homebound and need support. These people may be at home, in the hospital or nursing facility. The Ministers of Care and their work will be evaluated on a yearly basis to provide the appropriate guidance and support for both ministers and those in their care. Mass of Remembrance and Healing for Pregnancy, Infant and Child Loss

Bishop Carl Kemme will be the celebrant and homilist at this special memorial Mass will be at the Church of the Magdalen, 12626 E 21st Street North on Sunday, March 26 @ 9:30 AM.  A special invitation is extended to parents, grandparents, and siblings who grieve the death of children as a result of miscarriage, stillbirth, abortion, early infant or child death, including adult children. These losses may be recent or extend over many years. A ceremony for families will take place during the Mass and a reception in the gathering space will follow.  Parents will have an opportunity to add their child’s name to a Book of Remembrance before Mass begins.  Those parents who would like to have their child’s name added to the Book of Remembrance may call the Office of Marriage & Family Life at 316-685-5240. A child’s name can be included on the list even if the family members are unable to attend the Mass.

Engaged Encounter Is a Catholic Christian marriage preparation program for couples seeking the Sacrament of Marriage. It is a weekend program free of the tensions, pressures, and interruptions of daily living. The program is based on Catholic teachings and values and emphasizes the couple’s relationship in terms of a lifetime commitment, utilizing practical, emotional, and spiritual well-being tools.
