New stewardship poster unveiled
This year’s stewardship poster for the Diocese of Wichita features an image of the Holy Spirit hovering above the apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Upper Room.
Last year’s poster, featuring Saints Peter and John, focused on the life of discipleship, one’s relationship with Christ, and the fullness of life that flows from that. This year the focus on discipleship continues but emphasizes a life empowered by the Holy Spirit.
The image ties well with Bishop Carl A. Kemme’s mission statement: “To go forth faithfully to preach the Gospel to all God’s children and to Evangelize Today’s Culture.”
Here are two scriptural verses that relate to the image:
•Acts of the Apostles 1:8, “Jesus tells His disciples that he would be leaving them; ‘But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.’”
• Acts of the Apostles 2:1-4, “The Apostles were gathered in the upper room praying, when there came a sound like a mighty rushing wind and filled the entire house. Then there appeared to them tongues of fire… and they were filled with the Holy Spirit.”
