40 Hours Devotion
It is greatly hoped that every parish in the diocese will celebrate the Forty Hours Devotion at some time during our diocesan Year of the Eucharist. The Forty Hours Devotion is a solemn period of prayer and adoration before the exposed Blessed Sacrament for a period of 40 consecutive hours. Highly recommended by many popes, it is Eucharistic in nature and is centered on thanksgiving for the mystery of the Eucharist. This devotion gives us time to slow down, to adore, and to deepen our appreciation of the importance of the mystery of the Eucharist in the Mass, Jesus' abiding presence in the reserved Blessed Sacrament, and the impact the Eucharist is meant to have on every aspect of our lives.
Learn MoreMonthly Holy Hour
The parish is encouraged to celebrate, at a time when many parishioners may be free to participate, a monthly planned Eucharistic Holy Hour with scripture, prayer, and song focusing on the mystery of the Eucharist. The Office of Worship will gladly make available a resource each month which the parish is free to use if desired; or the parish may structure the Holy Hour as they wish. The tradition of the Holy Hour is an extension of the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament which occurs in every Mass: "Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.” Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament flows from the sacrifice of the Mass and serves to deepen our hunger for Communion with Christ and the rest of the Church.”

Revive Parishes, an online ministry academy to inspire and equip us for mission. For the Year of the Eucharist, look into The Mystery of the Eucharist in the Life of the Church.
The Bishops of the United States are calling for a three-year grassroots revival of devotion and belief in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. They believe that God wants to see a movement of Catholics across the United States, healed, converted, formed, and unified by an encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist—and sent out in mission “for the life of the world.”
These three years will culminate in the first National Eucharistic Congress in the United States in almost fifty years. Almost a hundred thousand Catholics will join together in Indianapolis for a once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage toward the “source and summit” of our Catholic faith.
