The St. Dismas Ministry to the Incarcerated serves the human and spiritual needs of the men, women, and children who are currently behind bars in the prison and jail facilitates within the Catholic Diocese of Wichita. Learn how you can help by filling out the form below.

Facilities

Requirements for Facilities

To enter any facility, you will need to have an FBI background check. This is done by the facility at no cost to you.
If you are volunteering for a State Prison Facility you are required to attend a volunteer training session offered by the facility you plan on volunteering at. The training session lasts about 4 hours for a first time volunteer.

County Facilities

Sedgwick County Adult Detention
141 W. Elm, Wichita, KS 67203
Minister to women and men. Confession/Mass for women inmates every other Thursday from 7:00 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. Confession/Mass for male inmates on every other Friday, opposite week of women, from 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
Volunteer

Sedgwick County Juvenile Detention
700 S. Hydraulic Ave., Wichita, KS 67211.
Volunteer Mondays from 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Catechism/Bible Study three times a month and Confession/Mass one time a month. Contact us below to volunteer.

Butler County Detention Facility
701 Stone Rd., El Dorado, KS 67042
Volunteer Friday evenings from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Two Fridays a month is catechism/bible study and on the other two Friday nights is Confession/Mass. To volunteer, fill out the forms below.

State Facilities

El Dorado Correctional Facility
Catechism/Bible Study on Tuesday evenings, 6:30 p.m.- 7:45 p.m. and Confession/Mass on Thursday evenings 6:30 p.m.-7:45 p.m. All of the services offered are held at the Spiritual Life Center located within EDCF.

Hutchinson Correctional Facility
The Central Unit (Maximum-custody) offers Catechism/Bible Study Thursdays 7:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m. and Confession/Mass 12:50 p.m.-2:00 p.m.
The East Unit (Medium-custody) offers Catechism/Bible Study Thursdays 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. and Confession/Mass 2:15 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
The South Unit (Minimum-custody) offers Mass and Catechism/Bible Study Thursdays 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Oswego Correctional Facility
Catechism/Bible Study is offered on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Thursday of the month at the Medium-custody Unit | 6:15 p.m.-7:45 p.m. Mass is offered on the 4th Thursday of the month from 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.
