Why We Exist

To serve the sacred poor, to experience the sacred community, to learn sacred silence, and to worship in the sacred mystery

+SACRED POOR
Come Spirit of the Crucified and Risen One—Come thru Mary. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends (John 15:11-13). Am I happier when I preserve my comfort and convenience or when I sacrifice my plans and ego for the person He places in front of me? Gospel poverty is necessary to experience the joy of the Kingdom—how are you, Spirit, asking me to live poverty?

+ SACRED COMMUNITY
Silence and begging are essentials, and must be written into our daily-rule-of-life.
During a week of P+A, the team will teach the kids how to remain in the Sacred Silence.
Together we will every morning with the Rosary beg our Mother to help us pay attention. We’ll stop throughout the day to beg for help with the Angelus. We’ll beg almost ceaselessly with the words “Come Holy Spirit. Come through Mary.”

+ SACRED SILENCE
Can someone teach me about myself? Can someone teach me how to recognize Christ present here and now? Can someone teach me what it actually looks like to follow (adhere to his Presence), and not just reduce this following to morals? We won’t reduce the experience of Christ to sentimentalism or emotions. Jesus is just an idea if I can’t point to my own lived experience of him. And an idea or emotions or even a lived experience of him will just blow away in a week, if I am not sustained by an experience of him in his Body, this New Community I feel I belong too. “Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand persons were added that day. They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers. Awe came upon everyone, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their property and possessions and divide them among all according to each one’s need. Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple area and to breaking bread in their homes. They ate their meals with exultation and sincerity of heart, praising God and enjoying favor with all the people. And every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved (Acts 2:41-47).”

+ SACRED MYSTERY
The claim of a one-thousand nine-hundred ninety year-long living tradition is: that burning in your heart caused by these Sacred Mysteries. When Jesus says, “This is My Body”; it requires a response from us, ‘amen, I believe’.
