Funding Our Catholic Schools

Extraordinary Giving Opportunities

Through our stewardship model, the Diocese of Wichita opens the door
to Catholic education for students and families who might not otherwise have access.
Your support of these extraordinary giving opportunities helps ensure
our Catholic schools remain strong for generations to come.

Teacher Salary Enhancement Endowments

Investing in teachers is more than just offering higher salaries – it’s ensuring the long-term vitality of Catholic education for our diocese and children. With higher compensation, teachers are free to focus on what they love – their vocation – rather than how to make ends meet. And in turn, children and families benefit from educators who are more present, more energized and more committed to their students’ formation.

Support For Catholic Schools, Inc.

Since 2017, Support for Catholic Schools, Inc. (SCS), the Low-Income Student Scholarship Program for the Diocese of Wichita, has infused more than $12.9 million in additional funding to our schools.

Gifts to SCS are mutually beneficial to both you, the taxpayer, and to all 38 diocesan schools. Donors who contribute to SCS receive a 75% Kansas state income tax credit for their gift, while every school of the diocese receives additional funding to assist low-income students who would otherwise struggle to financially assist the mission of Catholic education in their parish.

For the 2025-26 school year, SCS awarded $3.4 million in total funds to Catholic Diocese of Wichita Schools, on behalf of low-income students who are enrolled.

St. Katharine Drexel Catholic School Fund

Gifts to the St. Katharine Drexel Catholic School Fund provide additional funding to 23 of our parishes that struggle to support the mission of Catholic education for their parishioners.

For the 2025-26 school year, the Drexel Fund distributed more than $640,000 to help bolster our schools. This significant increase is the result of individuals and families generously contributing to the Drexel Fund through annual and estate gifts, as well as through strong investment returns.

Holy Family Special Needs Foundation

Using a grant process, the Holy Family Special Needs Foundation (HFSNF) awards grants to Catholic schools to assist with the cost of special education teachers, paraprofessionals, tutors, and other necessary resources to educate children of all abilities.

Since 2012, HFSNF has given a total of $3.25 million to our schools, funding 21 paraprofessionals in the classroom, 13 resource room teachers, seven special education teachers, and nine paraprofessionals for specific students. During the 2024-25 school year, HFSNF funded 35 grants totaling $371,150. Because of this funding, services were added at our schools for 75 students, the enrollment of 97 students was protected, and three students were newly enrolled.
