Funding Our Catholic Schools
Extraordinary Giving Opportunities
Through the collective generosity of our diocesan family,
we are able to provide countless opportunities to students and families
who otherwise would not be able to attend Catholic Schools.
In order to ensure Catholic education remains a pillar of
the Diocese of Wichita for years to come, we must continue
investing in our students, teachers, and schools.
Support For Catholic Schools, Inc.
Since 2017, Support For Catholic Schools, Inc. (SCS), the Low-Income Student Scholarship Program for the Diocese of Wichita, has infused more than $9.7 million in additional funding to our schools.
Gifts to SCS are mutually beneficial to both you, the taxpayer, and to all 38 diocesan schools. Donors who contribute to SCS receive a 75% Kansas state income tax credit for their gift, while every school of the diocese receives additional funding to assist low-income students who would otherwise struggle to financially assist the mission of Catholic education in their parish.
For the 2024-25 school year, SCS awarded $3.2 million in total funds to Catholic Diocese of Wichita Schools, on behalf of low-income students who are enrolled.
St. Katharine Drexel Catholic School Fund
Gifts to the St. Katharine Drexel Catholic School Fund provide additional funding to 23 of our parishes that struggle to support the mission of Catholic education for their parishioners.
When it was established nearly 20 years ago, the Drexel Fund distributed just over $75,000 per year to a handful of eligible parishes. In 2023, the Drexel Fund distributed more than $450,000 to help bolster our schools. This significant increase is the result of individuals and families generously contributing to the Drexel Fund through annual and estate gifts, as well as through strong investment returns.Benefiting Parishes:

Holy Family Special Needs Foundation
Using a grant process, the Holy Family Special Needs Foundation (HFSNF) awards grants to Catholic schools to assist with the cost of special education teachers, paraprofessionals, tutors, and other necessary resources to educate children of all abilities.
During the 2023-24 school year, HFSNF funded 33 grants totaling $391,500. Because of this funding, services were added at our schools for 253 students, the enrollment of 89 students was protected, and 26 students were newly enrolled.
