The Director of Development reports directly to the Chaplain and is responsible for leading and managing the fund development program, raising funds for the ministry and programs of St. Pius X Catholic Student Center and managing all committees involved in fund development activities. Primary responsibilities and relationships with other people in the institution are outlined below.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develops an understanding of stewardship as a way of life and engages in the ongoing formation and education of how the concept of stewardship supports the work of development in the Diocese of Wichita.
2. Prepare annual plans for all fund development activities. Develop and maintain a three-year plan for the development program which is updated annually.
3. Responsible for all matters related to the execution, management, and support of the fund development program.
4. Identify, cultivate, solicit, and close gifts. Maintain an active pool of prospective benefactors who can support the ministry.
5. Conduct a minimum of ten (10) personal interactions monthly with potential benefactors in the form of discovery, cultivation, solicitation, or stewardship communications.
6. Assist in scheduling, coordination and follow-up of face-to-face visits for the Chaplain or other staff or volunteers as appropriate.
7. Supervise the process to promptly respond with acknowledgement of gifts.
8. Prepare a minimum of quarterly reports and submit them to the Chaplain.
9. Plan and supervise direct mail, phone-a-thons, special events, and other solicitation activities as needed.
10. Oversees production of the Newsletter in collaboration with students, chaplain, staff and volunteers. Additionally they are responsible for any brochures and other marketing materials that support all aspects of the fund development plan.
11. Direct the organization and management of the comprehensive development program through supervision of volunteers and student development employees and in cooperation with current volunteers and Advisory Board Chair and Sub-committee members.
12. Working with volunteers, chaplain, and staff, executes a yearly fundraising gathering on a three year rotation (between Wichita, Kansas City, and Pittsburg).
13. Meets periodically with other development professionals in the Diocese of Wichita for support, collegiality and collaboration of ministry.
14. Building on the existing database, identifies new constituents that are aligned with the mission of St. Pius X or have the potential to be aligned to the mission in some other way. The database should be dynamic (relationship centered) that creates transparency and support for the strategy of St. Pius X.
15. In order to understand, facilitate, and represent the mission of St. Pius X and its students a minimum of 5 hours per week should be spent with students. This includes oversight of the Student Leadership Board Members in cooperation with the chaplain, execution of their main events, and extending but not limited to interactions such as conversation, study, prayer, and socialization with students.
16. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chaplain to include special projects to assist in the overall fund-raising efforts.

Qualifications:
• A practicing and faithful Catholic in good standing, who loves the Church and sees development work at Catholic campus ministry centers as an essential ministry.
• Baccalaureate degree or higher.
• Involvement in a campus ministry program as a student, or demonstration of success in a prior fund development position.
• Thorough knowledge of fund-raising principles or a willingness to learn them.
• Enthusiasm and excellent people skills are essential. The successful candidate must have the flexibility to handle the needs of a fast-paced office and the special needs of benefactors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and to lead and motivate others, especially volunteers.
• Thoroughness in planning and implementing work, including goals, budget, timetables, and action steps to achieve objectives.
• Ability to work effectively with the Chaplain, other staff members, a development consultant, students, campus representatives, and volunteers.
• Affinity with, and passion for, the overall mission of the Catholic Campus Ministry.
