Bishop Kemme marks fifth anniversary

Bishop Carl A. Kemme gets a big hug from one of the members of his flock after the noon Mass Wednesday, May 1, in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Wichita. In his brief homily, Bishop Kemme talked about how happy and how thankful he is and how he is looking forward to many more years of service in the diocese. “Five years ago I walked in here a stranger, now I’m just strange,” he joked. He ended his homily by invoking the intercession of St. Joseph the Worker, whose feast was being celebrated that day. Those at the Mass honored him with thankful applause. (Advance photos)
