Giving Has No Season

Zep 3:14-18a / Phil 4:4-7 / Lk 3:10-18

In today’s Gospel, John the Baptist reminds us to be good stewards of what we’ve been GIVEN, and to share the abundance of God’s blessings!  “Whoever has two cloaks should share with the person who has none.”  This time of year, we are bombarded with opportunities to give to those in need, but this timely reminder suggests that we should do so all the time, not just because it’s the season for giving.  Giving has no “season.”  John also points out that we are to be good stewards of our work.  If you are a tax collector, be a good one!  If you are a soldier, be a good one!  Wherever God has placed you in this world, use that position to serve and glorify God!  As we reflect on today’s scripture, may we remember that we have been GIVEN much and should respond in gratitude!
