Believe In the One He Sent

Ex 16:2-4, 12-15 / Eph 4:17, 20-24 / Jn 6:24-35

In today’s gospel, a crowd of Jesus’ followers ask this question: “What can we do to accomplish the works of God?” This question plagues many people who want to participate in God’s plan but have no idea where to start. Discipleship is filled with tasks that seem overwhelming and even impossible for man to accomplish. But Jesus makes it simple for us. His response to the question: “This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he sent.” There is no need for us to overcomplicate things. God equips us for the difficult tasks. Our job is to humble ourselves and place our faith in Christ alone, through whom all things can be done.
