Jesus said, "Untie him and let him go free!" Gospel of Saint John  11:44

Dear Friends,

Living chastely allows us to live like Christ and not in the bondage of sin.  This Introduction provides a simple list of steps to be free from the sin of pornography.  The links provide details of how to follow these steps.

There is no one “silver bullet” that will eliminate this cancer from your life, it will be a multi-pronged counter attack.  Be patient with yourself and be humble.  Patience and humility will drive the Devil away!

I hope these resources will be of assistance.  May God bless you!

7 Practical Steps in overcoming pornography

These are some practical steps to eliminate internet pornography from your life.

Seven Steps to Freedom:

  1. Eliminate the temptationThere needs to be a period of abstinence before you can make progress.  This may mean unplugging from the internet!  Yes, there was life before the internet!
  2. Limit your accessto the internet through:
    1. Time Limits
    2. Site Limits
    3. Accountability Partner
    4. Filters
    5. U-N-P-L-U-G it!!!  Really!
  3. Go to Confession on a weekly basis to the same confessor.
  4. Don’t do it alone:  get help.  Enlist a spiritual director and perhaps professional help.
  5. Pray always; Pray unceasingly.
  6. Increase your desire to be holy.
  7. Don't despair. Be wary of sinning against the virtue of hope through presumption or despair.

Filters for the computer:  A good place to begin.  A filter will not solve the problem but can make the time between temptation and acting on temptation longer, thus allowing God to intervene.

For a review of filters:

St. Philip Neri - "Devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and devotion to the Blessed Mother are not simply the best way, but in fact the only way to keep purity. Nothing but communion can keep one's heart pure.  Chastity is not possible without the Eucharist."

Find an Adoration Chapel and go there often.  Daily Mass too!
