John C. and Kristen D. Clevenger Memorial Scholarship Fund

A scholarship honoring the legacy and stewardship of John and Kristen Clevenger has been established by their long-time friends. John and Kristen believed in sharing their gifts with others. Their capacity to develop relationships and their ability to love and support those around them is their lasting legacy. Education, both inside and outside the classroom, was important to both. This scholarship symbolizes the intersection of education faith, and community service that John and Kristen both lived.
The Clevenger Scholarship provides financial support to a college-bound student who graduated from Holy Savior Catholic Academy. Scholarship will be awarded on an annual basis of $3,000, and is eligible for renewal for a period up to four years.
Criteria: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. A high school student graduating from any area high school who spent at least three years in school at Holy Savior Catholic Academy and graduated from Holy Savior.
2. Has demonstrated hard work and focus on academic achievement in their high school curriculum.
3. Plans to attend a four-year college or university, or a 2-year school with intent to continue towards a bachelor’s degree.
4. Has demonstrated a servant heart.
5. Has demonstrated leadership skills and activities.
6. Has helped advance the mission of Holy Savior Catholic Academy.
Application Guidelines: To apply, students must submit the following:
1. A completed scholarship application form.
2. A high school transcript showing GPA, and SAT or ACT scores.
3. Three letters of recommendation: one from a teacher, one from a pastor, and one from another adult who knows the candidate well.
Renewal Requirements: To renew the scholarship, recipients must:
1. Demonstrate progress towards a degree;
2. Maintain at least 12 credit hours per semester, and;
3. Submit grades of the previous academic year, and course schedule for the next semester. Recipients must submit all required materials to [email protected] by June 15 each year. Failure to provide may result in the scholarship being revoked.
*Exceptions to the above criteria may be requested and shall include a detailed explanation of the basis of the request.
Deadlines and Award Details:
Scholarship applications open January 1, 2026 and are due by March 1, 2026.
Scholarship recipients will be notified by April 1, 2026. The scholarship award will be paid directly to the school and can be used for tuition, books, or fees.
Scholarship Selection:
The Catholic Diocese of Wichita will administer the scholarship and make the award based on the recommendation of the Clevenger Scholarship selection committee.
