Brian & Karen Blackburn Family Scholarship Fund

The Brian & Karen Blackburn Family Scholarship provides financial support to graduating seniors from Trinity Catholic High School who will be attending Hutchinson Community College (Hutch CC) in Hutchinson, Kansas. One $2,000 scholarship ($1,000 per semester) will be awarded each academic year to be used toward the recipient’s tuition, books, and/or student fees. Beyond the initial semester’s award, the scholarship is renewable for up to three additional semesters, provided the recipient meets renewal requirements.

Other Available Scholarships

Criteria: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Be a graduating senior from Trinity Catholic High School in Hutchinson, Kansas.
2. Be enrolled full-time at Hutch CC.
3. Demonstrate a need for financial assistance.
4. Exhibit a strong Catholic faith.
5. Maintain enrollment at Hutch CC for up to three additional semesters (four total semesters of eligibility).
6. Meet and maintain the academic eligibility requirements established by the college.

Application Guidelines: To apply, students must submit the following:
1. A completed scholarship application form.
2. A high school transcript showing GPA.
3. Two (2) separate letters of recommendation from any of the following: parish pastor, high school chaplain, guidance counselor, teacher, or community member.

Renewal Requirements: To renew the scholarship, recipients must:
1. Remain enrolled as a full-time student at Hutchinson Community College and submit course schedule to the diocese.
2. Demonstrate progress toward degree.
3. Strong preference for a submitted thank you letter to the donors each year.

Deadlines and Award Details:
Scholarship applications open January 1, 2026 and are due by March 1, 2026.

Scholarship recipients will be notified by April 1, 2026. The scholarship award will be paid directly to Hutchinson Community College and applied to the student’s current account balance.

Scholarship Selection:
The Catholic Diocese of Wichita will administer the scholarship and make the award based on the recommendation of leadership and administration at Trinity Catholic High School.
