Rosary rally to return to St. Catherine On Oct. 18

The Catholic Diocese of Wichita’s Office of Marriage and Family Life is announcing that the Second Annual Diocese of Wichita Family Rosary Rally will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, at Wichita’s St. Catherine of Siena Parish.

Joining Bishop Carl A. Kemme as a speaker at the rally will be Bishop James Conley from the Diocese of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Along with the bishops’ reflections, the event will include a procession and crowning of a statue of Mary, consecration of families to the hearts of Jesus and Mary, and hymns.

And of course, says one of the event’s key organizers, Fr. Edmond Kline, attendees will also pray the rosary together, which is a major reason why he seeks to make the rosary rally a yearly event.

“I believe it is a worthwhile tradition to establish the Diocesan Family Rosary Rally for several reasons,” he said. “First, to honor Our Blessed Mother. Second, to remind and encourage families to the Holy Rosary together.”

Fr. Kline goes on to cite other reasons that include the rosary’s spiritual power to strengthen and uphold God’s design for marriage and family.

“Families need God’s graces to protect them and help them to stay close to Jesus,” he said. “After the Holy Mass, the rosary is the greatest form of prayer. Besides working real physical miracles in the lives of individuals and families, more importantly, it helps families to be united in love and help them to practice their Catholic faith.”
