Bishop Carl A. Kemme will be the keynote speaker for the 19th Annual Night of Romance Saturday, Feb. 16, in the parish hall of St. Jude Parish, Wichita.
Drawing on his recently released pastoral plan, Bishop Kemme will share and invite couples to embrace the new diocesan pastoral vision and mission that all become “fully alive” as missionary disciples of Jesus Christ.
Those planning to attend are invited to a 4:30 p.m. vigil Mass at St. Jude Church. The parish hall doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for Bishop Kemme’s talk and for a Valentine dinner and dance.
The St. Jude Knights of Columbus are hosting the event for the diocesan Office of Marriage and Family Life.
Dan Wimberly, a St. Jude Knight, said although the event isn’t a fundraiser any proceeds above the cost of the evening will be donated to parish and diocesan ministries. Some of the proceeds will be sent to the Knights’ ultrasound machine initiative that places sonogram devices with pro-life ministries.
Three machines donated by the Knights are being used in Wichita.
Becky Knapp, NFP program coordinator for the diocesan Office of Marriage and Family Life, said they are looking forward to collaborating with the St. Jude Knights of Columbus to combine two annual events.
“The Night of Romance and the Valentines Dinner and Dance will provide a chance for couples to celebrate Marriage and Love. We hope many will join us for Bishop Kemme’s talk on being Fully Alive.”
