Catechist formation course begins Aug. 26
St. James School in Augusta is hosting a diocesan Level II catechist formation course beginning Saturday, Aug. 26. The course will be presented from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1010 Belmont Ave.
Over a dozen additional formation classes will be offered through April 28.
The course has been approved by the diocesan Catholic School Office and Office of Faith Formation. Participants will receive credit hours towards a diocesan catechetical certification upon completion of the course.

St. Jude looking for vendors for Nov. 18 arts and crafts show
WICHITA – The St. Jude Parent Teacher Organization is soliciting vendors for an arts and crafts show Saturday, Nov. 18.

The show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parish hall, 3030 N. Amidon.

St. John, Clonmel, hosting CGS class
St. John Parish in Clonmel will host a Level 2 Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Formation class beginning Friday, Aug. 18.
The course is for catechists who have completed Level 1 formation. In Level 2 course catechists will explore the developmental and religious characteristics of the 6 to 9 year old child.
The class will help participants understand the biblical and liturgical themes of the catechesis. Participants will also deepen their ability to observe and learn from the child.

Newton Society of SVdP to host golf tournament Aug. 19
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Conference in Newton will host a benefit golf tournament Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Sand Creek Golf Course in Newton.
The event also marks the conclusion of the society's third year of service to Harvey County residents.
Tee off will be at 8 a.m. Lunch is included. The entry fee for a team of four is $400. Hole sponsorships and prize donations are also being accepted. To play or for more information, contact Dennis at 316-640-4236.
The society provides charitable services, outreach to those who are shut in, visitation of prisoners in the Harvey County Detention Center, and weekend food packs for select students attending St. Mary School in Newton.
Members have made nearly 200 home visits this fiscal year and provided over $25,000 in assistance.
