Father David Tassi

Father Tassi was born at Frontenac, KS on March 19, 1936. After attending St. Patrick’s High School in Parsons, he graduated from Mt. Carmel School of Nursing, Pittsburg, KS in 1958 and St. John Hospital School of Anesthesia, Springfield, IL in 1960. He decided to become a priest and attended Conception Seminary, Conception, MO and Kenrick Seminary, St. Louis, MO before being ordained by Bishop Maloney at the St. Mary’s Cathedral on June 7, 1969. His first assignment was as an assistant at St. Patrick Parish, Wichita. He was then assigned as a teacher at Madonna High School and later as a teacher and chaplain at Bishop Carroll High School in Wichita. In 1976 he moved to San Diego for health reasons and taught religion at the University of San Diego High School until 1991 when he retired for reasons of health. Following his death on March 30, 1993 a funeral Mass was celebrated for Father Tassi at St. Charles Borromeo Church in San Diego. Bishop Gerber was principal celebrant of a Memorial Mass for Father Tassi at St. Mary’s Church in Parsons, KS.
