Catholic in Recovery

This October, the Spiritual Life Center will welcome returning speaker, Scott Weeman, to present a retreat on the topic of healing from addictions and unhealthy attachments through the grace of God. After finding the spiritual graces and practical tools needed to recover from his own addictions, Weeman founded Catholic in Recovery, a community of men and women finding freedom from a variety of addictions, compulsions, and unhealthy attachments. Catholic in Recovery (CIR) offers support for individuals and families through virtual and in-person recovery meetings, retreats, online/digital resources, and content overlapping 12-step recovery principles with Catholic traditions.

This event is open to anyone struggling with any kind of addiction or unhealthy attachment, including drug, alcohol, gambling, pornography, overeating, sex, and relationships; as well as attachments to codependency, fear, anxiety, and the need for control. Friends or family members of those struggling with addictions are also welcome to attend.

Participants on this retreat will be encouraged to encounter the Lord and grow closer to him through talks, reflection, communal prayer and sharing, as well as a faith-centric approach to the 12-Steps of Addiction Recovery principles. There will also be opportunities for private prayer, confession, Mass, and adoration.
