Drexel school teachers gather at All Saints
Teachers from six Drexel schools of the Diocese of Wichita gathered Friday, Nov. 8, for collaboration and an in-service day.
Educators from St. Anne, St. Patrick, St. Margaret Mary, St. Jude, All Saints, and St. Joseph Catholic schools exchanged ideas and heard from several speakers.
They began the day with Jennifer Dees via Zoom regarding professional development in ESOL for our schools that have an increasing or high population of English language learners. Jessica Lopez, D.Ed., discussed classroom behavior in the afternoon.
Teachers then collaborated in grade level and content groups. All six schools have only one classroom per grade level and rarely get the opportunity to work with similar teachers.
Superintendent of Catholic Schools Janet Eaton said she was very impressed by the collaboration and cohesiveness of the schools.
“The teachers could identify with each other immensely. They shared ideas and gave suggestions to each other,” she said.

The St. Katharine Drexel Catholic School Fund strives to assist parishes that struggle financially to carry out the mission of Catholic school education. It also supports parishes without their own school that struggle with the cost of sending their students to another local Catholic elementary or high school.
