Emert - Indy woman feels blessed to be part of the diocese

By Babs Emert

I live in Independence and I’m a member of St. Andrew’s parish. I enjoy helping out by lectoring and being a greeter at Mass. I also help with Altar Society and parish dinners and fold the weekly parish bulletins. I started going to Holy Family summer camp in 1991. I remember meeting Dickie and Eileen there, as well as Luke Wenzel. I became friends with Debbie and Georgeanna and someone nicknamed us “the three musketeers.” Every year the camp has more staff, counselors, and campers. My favorite camp activities are the dance and the talent show. I have two sisters. Kate is married to Mike and she lives in Portland, Oregon. Sometimes we go to Portland to visit, and sometimes they come back home. My twin sister, Jennifer, lives in Topeka with her husband Marc, and my nephew Nick. All of us were together this year for Kate’s birthday in January, and again in October for Neewollah (a local Halloween festival). When I think of how much my parish and camp mean to me, I realize that I am blessed to be a part of the Diocese of Wichita.
