Title: Medical Assistant, Guadalupe Clinic
Reports To: Director of Nursing
FLSA Status: Part-time, Non-exempt

General Position Summary: The Medical Assistant provides patient care and supports the medical providers to assure continuity of care and follow-up.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.
- Complete patient intake – confirms purpose of visit, takes vital signs, obtains appropriate labs, reviews patient medications.
- Perform care interventions including injections, EKGs, nebulizer treatments, treadmill testing, wound care, suture removal, and other tasks as defined.
- Document information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Communicate with patients providing follow-up information, instruction, and other information as instructed.
- Assure work areas and patient rooms are clean, orderly, and stocked with supplies.
- Label medications prescribed from the dispensary and provide them to the patient using two patient identifiers.

Qualifications:
- Certified as a Medical Assistant or experience with the responsibilities of a Medical Assistant.
- Good verbal and written communication skills; English and Spanish fluency required.
- Ability to work independently and organize and prioritize work to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
- Computer proficiency, including experience with Electronic Medical Record system documentation.
- Ability to embrace and personify the mission of Guadalupe Clinic with socio-economic and cultural sensitivity in mind.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
