Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School is seeking to fill a full time Athletic Director position for the 2021-2022 school year. This individual reports directly to the principal and is responsible for leading, managing, and promoting a comprehensive four-year athletic program for the students of KMC. The Athletic Director’s leadership of the athletic programs of KMC must effectively promote the development of each coach and student who participates in the school’s programs, enhance the sense of community generated by athletics, and promote the athletic legacy that has been created by KMC.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Assures that Catholic virtue is paramount in the management and operation of all KMC athletic programs.
B. Provides oversight for and evaluation of all 24 athletic programs and athletic training program of KMC.
C. Manages the selection process for coaches and is responsible for evaluation and professional development of coaches.
D. Promotes athletic activities through enhanced communications with coaches, parent representatives and the KMC community; works in concert with the Marketing and Communications team of KMC on athletic website management and social media.
E. Schedules and makes arrangements for all athletic competitions, practice times, and athletic meeting times for the school’s athletic programs.
F. Schedules all athletic facilities usage, including summer camp and conditioning programs.
G. Develops and monitors appropriate budgets for the school’s athletic accounts.
H. Is the building liaison with the Greater Wichita Athletic League, and is responsible for maintaining a quality relationship with the GWAL.
I. Works with all assigners of officials to ensure that there are official assignments for each contest for which KMC is responsible to provide officials.
J. Assists KMC administration in handling personnel issues regarding coaches and
activity sponsors for the school.
K. Monitors KMC supplemental pay positions and assures that appropriate contracts are in place for each coach or sponsor.
L. Maintains the highest degree of collaboration possible with the administrative team of KMC regarding the school’s athletic programs and sports medicine; participates in regular meetings of the administration for this purpose.
M. Builds relationship and collaborates with KMC feeder school administrations and coaching staffs regarding the administration and needs of the feeder school athletic programs.
N. Builds and maintains a strong relationship between KMC athletic department and Crusader Parents Organization; regularly participates in meetings of the CPO.
O. Manages all home athletic events and personnel assigned to those events, including set up and take down.
P. Maintains primary responsibility for adherence to all rules and guidelines of KSHSAA, GWAL, KMC, and Diocesan activities handbook; holds coaches accountable for compliance.
Q. Develops and maintains relationships with other athletic departments within GWAL and surrounding communities.
R. Is responsible for working closely with the KMC President in the purchasing of athletic capital outlay, uniforms, and other athletic equipment, consistent with good budgetary practices.
S. Accounts for and holds coaches accountable for all athletic inventories.
T. Schedules and manages all athletic transportation needs and manages with the KMC maintenance department the appropriate permitting and maintenance of school athletic vehicles.
U. Is primarily responsible for the NCAA clearing house procedures.
V. Manages and makes assignments of supervision by KMC administrators or designees at athletic events.
W. Manages ticket sales, training of ticket staff, rosters, and informational items provided to opposing teams.
X. Collects and records season performances, individual athlete recognitions, and historical records for each sport to help maintain a school Hall of Fame.
Y. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must
be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed

• Must hold a Kansas Teaching License.
• Building level administrative license preferred.
• Previous experience (5 years required) in coaching at the high school level, head coaching experience preferred.
• Demonstrates ability to implement best practice and the motivation to set and
achieve high performance levels.
• Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate well, both
verbally and in writing, with parents, patrons, staff and students. Ability to speak in front
of large and/or small groups.
