The Medical Assistant works to assist the clinical team of volunteer medical providers and staff to provide quality care and consistent follow-up to the uninsured and disadvantaged patients of Guadalupe Clinic. This position will be full time and is supervised and reports to the Director of Nursing.

Qualifications
• Proficient in the technical and clinical skills pertaining to practice as a Medical Assistant to provide patient care
• English and Spanish fluency preferred, with good verbal and written communications skills
• Able to embrace and personify the mission of the clinic with socio-economic and cultural sensitivity
• Computer proficiency required, experience with Electronic Medical Record system preferred
• Able to work independently and organize and prioritize work to ensure timeliness and accuracy

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner. Verify patient information, confirm purpose of visit, take vital signs and patient history summary and reconcile medications.
• Perform procedures including injections, EKGs, nebulizer treatments, treadmill testing, wound care, suture removal and others as required.
• Properly document and enter information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Follow up on patient care utilizing in person and phone communication skills.
• Label medications for dispensing, provide patient education and follow up as needed.
• Maintain orderliness of work areas and waiting area.
• Other duties as required.
