Pre-Lent Conference features Catholic author and apologist Patrick Madrid

Fr. Pat York, local scholars speaking at Church of the Magdalen Feb. 13
Patrick Madrid, one of the leading American Catholic apologists will be the featured speaker at a special pre-Lenten conference Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Church of the Magdalen in Wichita. Madrid is a best-selling author, EWTN personality, and Scripture scholar. He will be joined by Church of the Magdalen pastor Father Pat York and local scholars Chris Stewart and Tony Brandt.
“I want to extend an invitation to all the faithful to join us for this conference,” said Father York. “We are fortunate to be able to welcome someone like Patrick Madrid, who is a leading lay voice for our Catholic Faith in the United States today.”
The conference begins Saturday, Feb. 13, with Mass at 8 a.m., followed by registration and three morning sessions. A box lunch is available from noon to 1 p.m., with afternoon sessions to follow. The Pre-Lenten Conference concludes with Mass at 5:30 p.m.
Patrick Madrid has appeared numerous times on EWTN. He is also the author of several apologetics books, including “Surprised by the Truth,” “Where is that in the Bible?” and others. Father York’s talk will focus on practical ways to grow in one’s spirituality during Lent. Also speaking at the conference will be Chris Stewart and Tony Brandt, religion instructors from Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School and Bishop Carroll Catholic High School in Wichita. Stewart and Brandt have formed an apostolate called “Casting Nets,” which offers insights into Catholicism from a teacher’s perspective.
