Winter adult Bible study begins Jan. 24 at St. Francis of Assisi
WICHITA – A seven week Bible study, “Israel’s Story - Part 1,” from the Little Rock Scripture Study, begins Jan. 24, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
The study will cover the first part of the Old Testament from the creation stories to the prophets. Participants have a choice of attending on Sunday mornings, or on Wednesday or Thursday evenings.

Extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion Workshops scheduled
Four workshops for extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion are scheduled in the Wichita area in the next four months. Here are the dates and sites:

• Tuesday, Feb. 9, 7 to 8:30 p.m., St. Peter Church, Schulte

• Thursday, April 22, 7 to 8:30 p.m., St. Mary’s Cathedral (Pius X/Marian Rooms), Wichita

Adorers to host prayer vigil for immigration reform on Jan. 19
WICHITA – The Sisters Adorers of the Blood of Christ will host a prayer vigil for comprehensive immigration reform from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the convent chapel, 1165 Southwest Blvd.
The sisters invite those interested to “come and unite as a faith community to pray for justice and safety for the immigrant families among us.”

SSVdP hosting orientation Jan. 9 at St. Anne’s
An orientation about the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 9, at St. Anne Parish, 2801 S. Seneca in Wichita.
Anyone who would like to learn about the mission of  the society is welcome to attend. A breakfast and lunch will be served and all materials will be provided free of charge. Reservations are required. To attend call Debi Rohr at (316) 773-4556.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul serves the poor through spirituality, friendship and service. Those interested in starting a parish conference may call Pat Burns at (316) 721-8622.
A reception will be held after the orientation at 1 p.m. in Setter Hall. All are welcome to attend to honor our Vincentians with special recognition to Vincentians with 10 or more years of service. Free throw contest Jan. 10 at St. Jude
WICHITA – The annual Knights of Columbus basketball free throw contest will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, in the St. Jude gymnasium, 3030 N. Amidon.
All boys and girls 10 to 14 years old can participate and qualify to advance to district or regional competition. Proof of age is required and a parent must accompany the contestant.

Squires sponsoring dinner Jan. 9 at St. Jude Parish, Wichita
WICHITA – Columbian Squires Circle 5265 is sponsoring a Mexican Dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at the St. Jude School Cafeteria, 3030 N. Amidon. The cost of the meal is a donation.
The squires are hosting the dinner to help them prepare for the State Squires Convention which will be held at St. Jude this year.

Romance Night Feb. 13
The next Romance Night, an annual event sponsored by the diocesan Family Life Office, will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Church of the Resurrection, Wichita.

TEC planned for Feb. 20-22 at SLC
The Office of Youth & Young Adult Ministries will be sponsoring a Teens Encounter Christ weekend Feb. 20-22 at the Spiritual Life Center in Wichita.
Although TEC weekends are designed for juniors and seniors in high school or recent graduates, they are also open to adults who work with youth in this age group.
The cost for a TEC retreat is $70, which includes seven meals, two nights lodging, and all materials.

TEC involves teens encountering Christ in a way that many have never experienced before. On a TEC weekend, participants will have the opportunity to grow in their relationship with Christ through talks, group discussion, individual reflection and prayer, and sharing in the Sacraments.

Youth ministry workshop Jan. 10 at the SLC
An Orientation to Catholic Youth Ministry workshop will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, at the Spiritual Life Center.
The workshop, offered through the diocesan Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministries, is free and is designed to support and equip adults working with both middle school and high school age youth.
The workshop covers:
• The relationship between CYO and CYM
• How to attract and keep youth involved
• How to include parents and families
All adults working with youth in parishes and schools are welcomed to attend. Reservations are needed by Jan. 4. Call (316) 269-3930.
