The Adorers of the Blood of Christ in the Wichita area gathered Aug. 15 to celebrate the 175th Anniversary of their congregation founded by St. Maria De Mattias in Acuto, Italy, in 1834.
The celebration began with a Mass of gratitude for the many blessings received during the past 175 years.
After Mass sisters moved to the dining room for a meal and for remembrances. Activities recalling practices of the past caused much laughter and sharing of memories. Included were quotes from Maria De Mattias and the singing of “Glory Be to Jesus.” Sisters and associates enjoyed pictorial displays, as well as additional memories shared in small groups.
At 4 p.m. all gathered in the Chapel of the New Covenant for an hour of adoration which included a sharing by Sister Jeanne Stewart drawing on core biblical sources for the Adorers’ charism, particularly focusing on covenant and reconciliation. The day’s festivities concluded with a pizza supper.
