What Volunteers Do

What Volunteers DoThere are a variety of ways volunteers minister to the incarcerated. Exactly what they do depends on the facility and the program in which they serve. Some examples are:

  • Attending Mass with inmates
  • Sharing scripture in a small group
  • Reading and discussing the catechism with inmates
  • Visiting with an inmate once a month
  • Visiting men in the infirmary
  • Being a catechist or a sponsor in the RCIA process
  • Leading a Liturgy of the Word or a Communion Service for inmates
  • Writing to inmates
