"Sensing that God wanted me to be a priest I remember struggling for a long time about what to do next. I had not told anyone that I had any inkling whatsoever about priesthood. I knew I had to tell someone, but I was very nervous. I ended up telling the high school chaplain, Fr. John Brungardt. I remember the experience being very difficult at first to even admit to another person that I was thinking about priesthood. That was a big leap into the unknown at the time.

Fr. Brungardt was very good to me though. He listened to thoughts and inklings and nodded and smiled in his quiet manner that all of us who know him love and revere. He encouraged me, and was patient enough to answer my questions."
