Lenten series online, in Parsons
The diocesan Office of Faith Formation will offer a Lenten series “Encountering the Word,” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on five consecutive Thursdays beginning Feb. 14.
Fr. Jarrod Lies and James Bitting will teach the series online and on location at St. Patrick Parish in Parsons.
Here are the dates and topics: Feb. 14 - From Dei Verbum to Verbum Domini; Feb. 21 - Christology of the Word; Feb. 28 - Our Response to the Word; March 7 - The Word in Liturgy and Catechesis; and March 14 - The Word through Lectio Divina and Liturgy of the Hours.
The course is about Jesus Christ being the fullest revelation of the Father and the Holy Spirit. He is the Word who became flesh so that we might become ‘partakers in the divine nature’ (2 Pet 1:4).
Fr. Lies said the Lenten series will aid those attending in encountering the Word in Scripture and in the church.
“We will explore Dei Verbum which is the Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation as well as the document Verbum Domini recently written by Pope Benedict on the ‘Word of God’ in the life of the church.”
