Hutch concert Jan. 29 to benefit Catholic schools
A contemporary Christian music concert next weekend will benefit Hutchinson Catholic schools.
The concert, featuring local Christian band The Brian Davis Band, will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Sunday Jan. 29, in the Historic Fox Theater.
All are invited to the free concert.
Bandleader Brian Davis first conceived the idea of a benefit concert in 2005 as a way to open the annual Catholic Schools Week and to raise funds for the local Catholic Schools’ music programs. The band fills the Fox Theater to capacity every year and has raised over $30,000 for the music programs at both Holy Cross Grade School and Trinity Catholic High School.
Those on stage include Brian Davis, D.J. Chastain, Trinity High School teacher Marcia Dillon, Marcia’s daughter Bernadette, as well as over 160 student choirs from both schools, representing all three Hutchinson parishes. Music instructors from Holy Cross and Trinity High School, Larry Dodge and Mark Robinson, work with students to prepare for the night.
This year the concert will also feature The Trinity Trash Can Band and members of the Mass choir on percussion.
Davis and his brother-in-law D.J. Chastain, both members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in South Hutchinson, have decided that this will be the last year for this concert, but have plans to continue showcasing Christian music for all ages in the Hutchinson area in the future.
