Fundraiser for 11-year-old Dec. 11 at St. Cecilia, Haysville
A “Holiday Extravaganza” fundraiser for Levi Combs will be held from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at St. Cecilia Catholic School Hall, 1912 W. Grand, in Haysville.
The Haysville Knights of Columbus are sponsoring the event to help send Levi for a month-long medical treatment in Kansas City next June. Eleven-year-old Levi suffers from cerebral palsy. After crawling most of his life, he was able to use a walker after therapy last summer that is not covered by insurance.
A visit from Santa is planned, a silent auction will be held, and crafts and baked items will be sold at the fundraiser.

Card shower planned for Nettie Phelps
Nettie Phelps, formerly of St. Jude parish, Wichita, will celebrate her 80th birthday on Dec. 10.
A card shower has been organized by her family. Cards may be sent to her at Villa Maria, 116 S. Central Ave., Mulvane, KS 67110.
Nativity display at Derby Dec. 11-12; special viewing Saturday, Dec. 12
DERBY – No Room at the Inn, the annual viewing of over 350 nativities hosted by the St. Mary Altar Society, will be held next weekend in the St. Mary school gym in Derby.
The viewings will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12.
This year, a special viewing called “The Stable Experience” will also be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, This is an additional event sponsored by Catholic Charities St. Anthony Family Shelter Advisory Council. Tickets for “The Stable Experience” are $25 and can be purchased in advance only. To get your tickets call (316) 264-8344 ext. 1221. Wine and light hors d’oeuvres will be provided.
A small silent auction of unique nativity sets will take place at “The Stable Experience.” Tickets for a prize drawing to win one of three nativity sets will also be held throughout the weekend.
Tickets are $1 each or $5 for six tickets. No purchase necessary and need not be present to win.

Waugh studying for Congregation of Holy Cross priests
Jarrod Waugh, a seminarian for the Congregation of Holy Cross, is currently in his second year of Theology in the Masters of Divinity program at Notre Dame. He is a native of Edna, Kan., and the son of Jerry and Carolyn Waugh, member of St. Patrick Parish, Parsons. Jarrod graduated from Labette County High School and continued his studies at Notre Dame where he entered the undergraduate seminary program as a junior in 2006. He graduated in 2008 and professed his first vows in the summer of 2009. Jarrod spent this past summer as an intern with the Holy Cross Family Ministries in Easton, Mass.
Holy Savior Holiday Fair Saturday, Dec. 4
WICHITA – The Holy Savior Ladies Auxiliary is hosting a Holiday Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at the church, located at 13th and Chautauqua, just west of Hillside.

Dear Neighbor to help families during holidays
WICHITA – The Sisters of St. Joseph Dear Neighbor Ministries will again donate holiday meals to needy families over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The average food package is $25 per family.

All Saints Altar Society’s Cookie Walk set for Dec. 11-12
The All Saints Altar Society will host its ninth annual cookie walk from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, and from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12.
Cookies will be sold in two sizes, for $10 and for $15.
The cookie walk will be held in the Fischer Center, 3313 E. Grand, one block west of Via Christi- St. Joseph Campus, Wichita.
Winfield Christmas tree lot open to Dec. 19
WINFIELD – Holy Name Catholic School’s Christmas tree lot will sprout trees until Dec. 19.
Wreaths and two varieties of trees grown in St. John, Kan., are featured. The tree lot is located at 201 East 19th, south of the first Church of the Nazarene.
Here are the hours the lot is open: Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sundays 1 to 6 p.m., and
Monday through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
