New and Revised Mass Settings for Revised English-language Order of Mass Now Available Online

Use of the revised English-language translation of the Roman Missal for the United States begins on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011. Music publishers have posted samples of their new and revised music settings for the revised translation. Mp3 files may be previewed online and samples of sheet music are available. Parishes and institutions are encouraged to review these materials in selecting music for future use with the revised translation. The Office of Worship does not endorse any particular publisher.

Some assembly editions are available for free download. OCP will provide free assembly supplements for institutions or parishes that purchased certain hymnals in the past five years. The Wichita diocesan Office of Worship has a few OCP sample music sheets prepared for the priests at last October’s clergy conference. A few leftover copies are available free on request (269-3900, request Worship Office).

World Library Publications (Paluch) has posted samples of its new settings at: http://www.singthenewmass.com/New_Musical_Settings.html. Revised mass settings are at: http://www.singthenewmass.com/Revised_Musical_Settings.html. The Office of Worship has a large quantity of Musical Settings of the Mass which contains sample sheet music and a CD from WLP. These are available free upon request from the Office of Worship.

Chant settings for the revised Order of Mass will be included in every new publication of missalettes, hymnals, and certain worship aids. Downloadable solemn and simple chant settings and mp3 samples can be obtained at http://www.npm.org/Chants/index.html. These downloads may be freely used.
