 Office of Faith Formation Program Coordinator

 with Emphasis on Catechesis

The Catholic Diocese of Wichita is seeking a dedicated individual to serve as a full-time program coordinator for the Office of Faith Formation with emphasis on catechesis.  This person will be responsible for overseeing diocesan wide efforts in providing catechists with integrated formation in content, methodology and spirituality.  This will include cooperating with the director by developing and maintaining curriculum for catechist training, recruiting trainers throughout the diocese, implementing and updating modern methods of formation including online and distance education opportunities.  This person will maintain current knowledge on the latest technology and resources which aid catechists in their ministry.  In addition, this person will collaborate with the entire Office of Faith Formation staff in the projects which fall within its mission and ministry.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Practicing Catholic striving to live as a disciple of Jesus Christ and an active and faithful steward in their parish

  • Enthusiastic, engaging and energetic formator in catechetical methods, Church doctrine and spiritual formation

  • Experience working effectively with pastors, parish coordinators and volunteers

  • Experience and ability to work with and encourage youth ages kindergarten through high school

  • Experience teaching in parish catechetical ministry or other catechetical venues

  • Willingness to consistently travel evenings and weekends to parishes outside the Wichita metro area (this would include Wednesday evenings once a month and weekends 8-10 times per year).

  • Proven administrative skills, experience in interpersonal relations, conflict resolution, collaborative management style and team formation

  • Respect for all cultures and social backgrounds

  • Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and verbal communication

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of six faith formation staff members

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Social Media

  • Bachelor’s in Theology or Catechetics required; Master’s Degree in Theology or Catechetics is strongly preferred

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish both orally and in writing and familiarity with Latino culture is strongly preferred.

 The Diocese of Wichita is seeking an outstanding individual to serve as Diocesan Safe Environment Coordinator.  This individual will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the Diocesan response to the USCCB Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.  Duties will include assisting in the coordination, communication, implementation and support of compliance with the Diocesan Safe Environment Program and serving as a resource for pastors, parishes, diocesan schools and other diocesan entities.

 Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Counseling or other related field preferred. 
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing and an active steward in one’s parish preferred.
  • Proven presentation and facilitation skills. 
  • Strong business writing skills with attention to detail.   
  • Ability to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends, conducting training sessions and auditing compliance. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Excellent professionalism, telephone etiquette and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with pastors, Diocesan employees, Curia Offices, representatives of other agencies and the general public.
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, respect confidentiality and make responsible judgment calls.
