Father Charles J. Middleton, 84, a priest of the Diocese of Wichita for 58 years, died Thursday, Jan. 28.
Services for Father Middleton were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, St. Peter Church in St. Charles, Mo.
A Memorial Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, in St. Elizabeth Chapel of the Catholic Care Center, Wichita.
Father Middleton was born on Nov. 19, 1925, in St. Louis, Mo. He received his seminary training at Kenrick Seminary, St. Louis, and was ordained on May 15, 1951, in St. Paul the Apostle Church, St. Louis.
Father Middleton served in the following parishes: St. Mary Cathedral, Wichita; St. Philip Church, Franklin and St. Alice, Capaldo; St. Teresa, Madison and St. John, Hamilton; St. Louis, Waterloo, and St. Rose, Mt. Vernon; St. Agnes, Castleton; St. Aloysius, Greenbush; St. Rose, Columbus, Immaculate Conception, West Mineral; St. Joseph, Arma, and St. Gabriel, Mulberry; St. Patrick, Harper, and Sacred Heart, Anthony; and St. Patrick, Galena, and St. Joseph, Baxter Springs.
He retired from active ministry on July 1, 2003, and was residing at Mt. Carmel Senior Living, St. Charles, Mo.
