Caring and sharing at Catholic Charities - Christmas activities list

It’s the season of caring and sharing at Catholic Charities!
Here is a list of this year’s Christmas activities to stabilize and strengthen families in the Diocese of Wichita:

(Wichita, KS – November 19, 2012)

Adopt a Shelter Family - This Christmas, help ensure the families we serve experience a successful transition out of shelter. Our families need basic household items as they exit the shelter and seek to begin a new life. Items such as pots and pans, cookware, utensils, clothes hampers, laundry baskets, new towel sets and new sheet sets are just some of the crucial items needed.

– Catholic Charities has joined #GivingTuesday, a national effort using the power of social media to transform how people think about the giving season.  Coinciding with the Thanksgiving holiday, #GivingTuesday will be Nov. 27. While Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become synonymous with shopping, the goal is to make #GivingTuesday synonymous with giving back, and to kick off the season of caring and sharing.  To join Catholic Charities’ #GivingTuesday initiative, visit http://givingtuesday.org/partner-detail/catholic-charities-inc-wichita-kansas/.

Stuff the Bus – The Stuff the Bus bus will travel throughout Wichita from Nov. 28 to Dec. 1.  Stuff the Bus benefits Harbor House at Catholic Charities and Wichita YWCA.  Businesses and organizations that wish to participate may donate new toys, non-perishable food, personal hygiene products and other household goods.  Listen to B98-FM or go to http://catholicdioceseofwichita.org/events-cc-home/stuff-the-bus for a list of stops.

Nativity exhibition – The 8th annual “No Room At The Inn” nativity display, to benefit St. Anthony Family Shelter at Catholic Charities, will be held Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 1-2, in the St. Mary School Commons and Gym, 2306 E. Meadowlark, in Derby.  Those interested are invited to exhibit their own nativities at no cost.  For information or to exhibit, contact Barb Pinaire at (316) 253-4943 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. About Us

The Catholic Diocese of Wichita was erected in 1887 from the Diocese of Leavenworth. The document establishing the Wichita diocese was issued by Pope Leo XIII. At that time there were 16 priests in charge of churches, and 23 churches attended as missions and nine parochial schools.

Excellence in our Catholic Schools

As the second largest school system in Sedgwick County and the ninth largest in Kansas, the 39 Catholic schools of the Diocese of Wichita serve nearly 11,000 students in both urban and rural areas. What distinguishes Catholic schools is our mission to form disciples of Jesus Christ. This formation is fostered daily by teachers, prayer, worship, infusion of religious values into curriculum and activities, and apostolic service.
