Holy Family Special Needs Foundation

Integration and Inclusion Grants

What is the Holy Family Special Needs Foundation?

The mission of the Holy Family Special Needs Foundation is to foster the human, intellectual and spiritual growth of individuals with disabilities through education, activities and services which help them to be active disciples of Jesus Christ in the Diocese of Wichita.

The Holy Family Special Needs Foundation was established in 2003 by the Catholic Diocese of Wichita as a not-for-profit organization (501(c)(3)). A seven member board of directors, working collaboratively with the Bishop, manages the operation of the Foundation.

What is the Holy Family Memorial Fund?

The Holy Family Memorial Fund was established in 1965 by the Fr. Eugene Gerber, now Bishop Emeritus Eugene Gerber as the Holy Family Center Memorial. Proceeds from the Memorial were used to fund the operating expenses of the Center.

Today, the Holy Family Memorial Fund is used to support the inclusion of students with disabilities in the Catholic schools of the Diocese of Wichita. It is also used to support the work of the Ministry with Persons with Disabilities, an office of the Curia in the Catholic Diocese of Wichita.

Why establish a Holy Family Memorial?

Disability is a natural part of the human condition. Most of us will experience some type of disabling condition in our lifetime. A gift to the Holy Family Memorial Fund would insure that the Ministry with Persons with Disabilities is able to fulfill its mission of helping each parsih keep all parishioners actively involved in parish life regardless of type, severity or age of onset of a disability.

Many parents desire a Catholic education for their children-- all of their children, including a child with a disability. A gift to the Holy Family Memorial Fund would insure future financial support for the ongoing effort by the Catholic Schools in the Diocese to provide a Catholic education to students with disabilities across a broad spectrum of needs. Grants to the schools are used to purchase materials and equipment, to train teachers and to hire and train professional staff.

Memorials can be established at any time to honor or memorialize a loved one. Memorials can be created while a person is living as a way to honor their life or at the time of death as a way to memorialize their life. Provisions may also be made through an estate plan like a will or a trust to create a Holy Family Memorial to honor the memory of the deceased.

Memorials can be established through outright gifts of cash, stock or real estate, bequests or trusts ad charitable gift annuities.

Memorial Mass

Holy Mass is offered on the first Wednesday of the month at the Spiritual Life Center at 11:15 am in the Chapel of Mary, The First Disciple, and each year on All Souls Day. Friends and relatives are invited to attend these Masses and offer their prayers for the loved one being honored or memorialized. The exact time and location of the All Souls Day Mass will be announced closer to the date.

May additional contributions be made?

The Holy Family Memorial is perpetually open for additional gifts as long as future gifts and donors abide by any gift restrictions placed by the original donor.
