Blind and Visually Impaired

The Catholic Advance, is available on the Air Capitol Telephone Reading Service. Anyone who is blind, visually impaired or has a print disability (dyslexia, non-reader) may access this service. In order to access the service, an application will need to be completed. Call the office of the Ministry with Persons with Disabilities at 316-269-3900 for more information or to receive an application.
Many parishes have large-print missalettes and hymnals available for use. Please ask an usher for one before Mass.
The Xavier Society for the Blind, which provides Catholic religious and spiritual resources free of charge to individuals who are blind or have low vision, is now offering the New American Bible. It is available in electronic, Braille, large print, or audio CD formats. The entire Bible, with or without commentary, can be requested by e-mailing

The Xavier Society offers a large lending library that can be searched on their new interactive website at www.xaviersocietyfortheblind.org. Among its offerings are religion textbooks, Mass Propers, and devotional materials. It also serves clients with other disabilities that impede an ability to read traditional print or hold written materials, such as dyslexia or spinal injuries.
