About Us

The Guadalupe Clinic was opened in 1985 and provides primary medical care and related support services to those without medical insurance, including those who are ineligible for Medicare, Medicaid and Healthwave. The majority of the clinic’s clients can be categorized as “working poor”; holding one or more jobs but for whom insurance is not provided or is otherwise unaffordable. An increasing number of clients are unemployed as a result of economic conditions. Patient count has doubled in recent years and visits have increased significantly.

While the clinic is a ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Wichita, it serves without regard to client’s religion or creed. A diverse portfolio of Caucasian, Hispanic, African American, Native American and Asian American patients all benefit from the clinic.

Services offered include physician visits, health screening and education, pregnancy tests, nutrition counseling, assistance with prescriptions, medical appliances such as braces as well as physical therapy and other services. Emergency food and clothing, infant formula and diapers can also be provided.

In addition the clinic has access to specialty care including orthopedics, oncology, MRI scanning, general surgery and prenatal care. These services are provided in conjunction with area hospitals and laboratories.  Working directly with drug manufacturers the clinic annually provides its patients with well over one-half million dollars in free medications.

Guadalupe Clinic receives no federal funding or insurance reimbursement. Clients are invited to donate $5 per visit; however this is not a prerequisite for service.
