2017 Faith & Family Festival: Families Growing in Faith Saturday, Oct. 21

By Jake Samour
The diocesan Offices of Faith Formation and Marriage and Family Life invite you to the second annual Faith and Family Festival – a place where families grow in faith together. It will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Wichita.
Once again, the festival is being hosted in collaboration with the St. John Paul II Foundation.
The day will include dynamic presentations, Eucharistic Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and an opportunity to spend a day in prayer and reflection with your spouse. Danielle Bean, publisher of Catholic Digest, and Arland K. Nichols, president of the St. John Paul II Foundation, will be the keynote speakers for the adult portion of the festival. The day will conclude with a vigil Mass and cookout.
Adults will participate once again in the Together in Holiness marriage conference designed to inspire couples to grow together in holiness and empowers parents to form their children in the Catholic faith.
“Spouses and parents have an incredible mission to nourish love in the home,” according to Arland K. Nichols, president of the St. John Paul II Foundation. “Drawing upon the teaching of St. John Paul II and Pope Francis we will explore how we as parents and spouses can transform our homes and our relationships.”
During the men’s session, he said, husbands will explore the challenges they face and how they can rise up for the awesome responsibility of being leaders in our home and society.
“As a father of six children, I like to say that family life is a fun, crazy, joyful mess…and I wouldn’t trade it for the world, Nichols said.
“This conference will strengthen you as you strive to be the best husband or wife, father or mother. It will offer you inspiration and practical tips for how to be the man, the woman… the family that God is calling you to be.”
Samour is the director of the Office of Marriage and Family Life.
