Whether you’re young and unmarried or an adult with a family, an unintended pregnancy can be a difficult period. Catholic Charities Pregnancy Counseling Services, which is open to people of all faiths, understands that and is available to provide education and support about pregnancy options, community referrals, and counseling at no cost to the client.

The goal of Catholic Charities Pregnancy Counseling Services is to help birth parents have a healthy pregnancy, to know their pregnancy options and be supported in their decision. As every pregnancy choice has life-long implications, it is critical for birth parents to carefully consider each life-giving option.

Options

For those choosing to parent, the program provides assistance with identifying personal goals; children’s needs (child development); budgeting plans and help to stabilize the family.

For those interested in making an adoption plan for their child, we offer counseling before and after the baby is born. Keeping a child's best interests in mind, Catholic Charities is committed to openess in adoption. This may include having birth families select the adoptive family, regular communications and visits and life-long counseling services to the members of the birth families. It is important for birth parents to have the opportunity to discuss the grief and loss issues and receive assistance in healing throughout their lives.

Cost

Catholic Charities provides case management support and pregnancy counseling to birth mothers, birth fathers and their families at no cost to the clients. When referrals to therapy are made, if applicable, insurance may be billed.

Other Services

In addition to the primary services offered by Catholic Charities Pregnancy Counseling Services, the agency also offers:

Referral to adoption legal counsel; post-adoption counseling for birth parents who complete an adoption plan;a resource library with information about parenting and adoption; cradle care may be provided between the time of delivery, final decision and placement in the adoptive home, if needed.

Credentials

Catholic Charities Pregnancy Counseling Services is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children, Inc., ensuring quality standards, multicultural and multiracial insights and capacities with respect to diversity, and a service focus that builds on the strengths of individuals and families. The program is also licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment as a child-placing agency.

Our pregnancy counselor is sensitive to every person’s unique culture and background. Our approach is personal, recognizing that you are unique in the world. We respect all religious beliefs and embrace faith as a source of healing and renewal.

After the Gift
In collaboration with the Catholic Diocese of Wichita, Office of Respect Life and Social Justice, Catholic Charities helped develop a healing retreat specific to the needs of women who completed an adoption plan. This weekend retreat is open to women of all faiths and is intended to help facilitate healing of the mothers' heart. Whether it has been a recent adoption or many years, the After the Gift retreat is available to all who have given their child the gift of adoption.
