Pontifical Mission Societies

The Society for the Propagation of the Faith (SPF).

The Society of the Propagation of the Faith has general responsibility for promoting mission awareness, missionary vocations and both spiritual and material support for the missions. The society is geared to members of the church high school age and older. World Mission Sunday, Missionary Cooperation Plan, the Society of St. Peter Apostle and Mass Stipends are a few of the ways this responsibility is fulfilled by the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.

The Society of St. Peter Apostle (SPA)

The Society of St. Peter Apostle, under the authority of the Pope, and in cooperation with the Bishops, has been established by the Holy See as the central organization of the Church for seeking and providing support for the training of future priests, and religious brothers and sisters in mission countries. The support for the society is received through private donations.

The Pontifical Missionary Union (PMU).

The objective of the Pontifical Missionary Union is to stimulate missionary formation and awareness among priests, members of Institutes of Consecrated Life and of Societies of Apostolic Life, consecrated laity, candidates to priesthood and religious life in all its forms, as well as all other persons engaged in the pastoral ministry of the Church. All of these proclaim the missionary message to the entire universal Church.
