Cynthia Colbert, executive director of Catholic Charities for the Diocese of Wichita, has been named executive director of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. She will continue in her current role through Dec. 31, a role she has held for the past two and a half years. She will begin her new duties in January.
Among her accomplishments is the implementation of a comprehensive, five-year strategic plan for Catholic Charities to continue to respond to the changing needs of the poor and vulnerable in our area.
“I am honored to answer the call to serve in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston,” said Colbert. “But I will also miss this work. This is a wonderful agency with hard-working and dedicated staff who are truly mission-driven.”
The Board of Directors of Catholic Charities will determine a succession timeline on Wednesday, October 24.
During her tenure, Colbert led the more than 14 programs and services in the work of stabilizing over 16,000 families in crisis.
