As a Catholic in the Diocese of Wichita, Kansas, I claim a right to the religious liberty granted me as a human being by God and protected for me as an American citizen in the 1st Amendment of the US Constitution:  “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
I protest, and will continue to protest, the HHS “preventive services” rule because it denies my civil right to religious liberty under the 1st Amendment and disregards my human right under God.
The HHS mandate requires private health plans to cover female surgical sterilization and all drugs and devices approved by the FDA as contraceptives.  This includes drugs which can attack a developing unborn child before and after implantation in the mother’s womb. The mandate establishes a system of values inconsonant with our Catholic Faith and the First Amendment of the Constitution. 
I do not believe that pregnancy is a disease, or that children are a ‘health problem’ – they are a gift from God and are the next generation of Americans.
I ask that you uphold the First Amendment and protect the religious freedom of all people.  Please help defend our first constitutional right.  We ask that you rescind Department of Health and Human Services CMS-9992-F, 45 CFR Part 147, RIN 0938-AQ74, and all its analogs.
