WICHITA - The 41st annual Diocesan Wedding Anniversary Mass will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 3636 N. Ridge Road.
Couples celebrating a wedding anniversary ending in 0 or 5 and all couples who have been married for 50 years or more in the calendar year of 2012 are invited to attend.
Here are some marriage tips offered by couples who attended last year’s Mass.
Helen and Leroy Blasi, 45 years. Helen: “Your first night of marriage you need to pray together and also show a devotion to our Blessed Mother, and of course Our Lord, and make this a very important part of it and also learn to give a 100 percent sometimes. Sometimes it takes a little bit more giving than taking. That to me is one of the big things that has made our lives a success so far. You need to spend special time with your spouse. Leave the children at home and go out and enjoy a good night of card playing or dancing whichever you prefer.  We enjoyed both.”
Helen and John McCabe, 50 years: Helen: “Our advice to young couples getting married is to keep God in their marriage and to be patient with each other.  So my favorite word after 50 years is perseverance.”  
Margaret and Dan Klosterman, 15 years: “What we would recommend for couples engaged to be married is to really, really, always remember the importance of going to Mass together and praying together because it really takes God’s help to make the marriage stronger and better all the time.”
Polly and Joe Clement, 61 years: Together they said, “There is so much to learn through our lifetime, this married life.” Polly: “We have been happy. We have six children. They’re all happy, I hope, and we pray every night that they are happy and healthy.”
