Charis retreat begins Oct. 27
In the face of the current growing trend of young adults disengaging from the Catholic Church, a small group of dedicated young people is prayerfully, thoughtfully, and joyfully offering options for their peers to re-connect with their faith.
Under the direction of Congregation of St. Joseph Sr. Lois O’Malley, the team of young adults conducts various Charis retreats throughout the year for those in their 20s and 30s, married or single. Based on Ignatian spirituality, Charis retreats provide time, space and relevant reflections to allow participants to listen to God.
At a time when confusion and questions can derail one’s faith, these retreat opportunities gently call participants back to the heart of the one who loves them. Taking place in the peaceful surroundings of the Magnificat Center in Wichita, the retreat includes prayer, meals, celebrations of Reconciliation and Eucharist interspersed with honest and moving testimonies given by the team members.
If you know of a young adult who may be in need of some spiritual rest and relaxation, invite them to consider attending the next Charis retreat which will be “The Jesus Retreat” and will focus on the life and ministry of Jesus as it relates to our own spiritual journey. Parents, grandparents, friends, you can help the young adult in your life by buying a gift certificate from the Magnificat Center to cover the cost of the retreat or just send a check for them.
Want to make the next Charis retreat?
The next Charis Retreat is scheduled for Oct. 27-28, at the Magnificat Center located at 3700 E. Lincoln, Wichita. Prior to Oct. 20, commuters pay $35 and those staying the night pay $60. After that date, rates go up to $40 and $70, respectively. Couples pay $70.
