Offices next to Lord’s Diner’s south location
The new Guadalupe Clinic and Catholic Charities offices connected to The Lord’s Diner at 2825 S. Hillside are nearly ready to serve residents of that part of Wichita. Bishop Michael O. Jackels will bless the new offices at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20.
Cynthia Colbert, executive director of Catholic Charities, said the ministry is moving its Food Pantry to the new location on South Hillside from the location behind the St. Anthony Family Shelter.
She said the pantry was moved because there are fewer pantries in that area of Wichita than in other areas of Wichita.
“In time, as we understand the needs of the community and gaps in services for residents, we will consider how to bring other Catholic Charities programs through enhanced outreach at the new location,” Colbert said.
“The opportunity to co-locate with the Lord’s Diner and the Guadalupe Clinic, also gave us the opportunity to provide a more comprehensive approach to serving families,” she said. “We are very excited by this collaboration and I know that together, the three agencies, can provide a more holistic approach to meeting the needs of many families and children.”
Marlene Dreiling, director of the Guadalupe Clinic, said her ministry will be offering physician visits on a part-time basis along with blood pressure, blood sugar, and similar screenings.
Those interested may make an appointment by calling the main clinic at (316) 264-8974.
“I love the collaboration,” Dreiling said. “So many times we all helped the same people. I think we can make them healthier Americans if we are able to provide them with health care along with the necessary food and other services to assist them.”
