Feast of Vietnamese Holy Martyrs Nov. 20
WICHITA – The Feast of the Vietnamese Holy Martyrs will be celebrated Sunday, Nov. 20, at St. Margaret Mary Parish, 2701 S. Pattie..
Benediction will be held and confessions in English and Vietnamese will be heard from 2:30 to 4 p.m. A procession of the relics will be held at 4:30 p.m.
Mass celebrated by Bishop Michael O. Jackels will begin at 5 p.m. A reception will follow in the gym.

International Survivors of Suicide Day conference Nov. 19
WICHITA – An International Survivors of Suicide Day conference, designed to help these survivors heal and cope with their loss will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, in McNamara Center at Via Christi Hospital, 3600 E. Harry.
The free conference will offer a place for survivors to talk, heal, learn to cope and just be with other people who understand their guilt, grief, confusion, and anger.
The conference will include a panel discussion with three experts. It also will include a candlelight remembrance ceremony for loved ones who were lost, and a viewing of the national Survivors of Suicide broadcast.
A continental breakfast and a light lunch will be served.

Raffle tickets being sold to help Discalced Carmelite Monastery
A raffle is being held to raise money for the nuns of the Discalced Carmelite Monastery.
The nuns hope to buy pre-cast concrete wall sections for their permanent enclosure wall to comply with what Rome requires for the monastery, located north of the Spiritual Life Center.
The Catholic book stores that have raffle tickets available, in addition to BCCHS, are Catholic Art & Gifts, Holy Trinity Catholic Books & Gifts, and Sacred Heart Gifts
The drawings will be held in late December. The suggested donation for the raffle tickets is 1 for $1, 7 for $5 dollars, and 15 for $10 dollars.
Donations accepted but no donation or purchase necessary. Winner is subject to all applicable local, state, and federal taxes.

Biographies of Fr. Reinkemeyer are again available
More copies of the book about Fr. John Reinkemeyer by Marcel Normand, a member of St. Joseph Parish, Arma, are available.
The first printing of 1,400 books sold out this summer, Normand said.
Copies of the second printing of his 2009 biography, “Fr. John Reinkemeyer: God’s Humble Servant,” are available via mail or may be picked up in the Wichita area.

CSJ’s Dear Neighbor offering holiday meals through donations
Congregation of St. Joseph’s Dear Neighbor Ministries is again offering holiday meals and other assistance during the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
The ministry can serve family meal for just under $30.

Diocese hosting talk about mental illness support Nov. 29
The diocesan Ministry with Persons with Disabilities will host “Welcomed and Valued: Supporting People with Mental Illness in Parish Life,” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, in Bishop’s Hall at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 124 N. Roosevelt, Wichita.
A counselor from Catholic Charities Community Counseling Service and a representative from National Alliance on Mental Illness will speak.
Members of Respect Life and Social Justice committees, parish nurses, members of special needs ministries, or anyone interested in this issue are encouraged to attend.

A Better Choice ministry helps 250 women a month
Every month 250 young women walk through the doors of A Better Choice, a ministry of compassion based on the pro-life teaching of the Catholic Church that offers a variety of services as well as a number of counseling opportunities.
Counseling includes talks about lifestyle changes, accepting the pregnancy and facing the decision of parenting or placing the baby for adoption. Nearly 125 young women every month have a positive pregnancy test at A Better Choice.

St. Cecilia ‘sing’ event Nov. 22 at convent
A free “St. Cecilia Sing” will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, at the Adorers of the Blood of Christ Convent, 1165 Southwest Blvd, one driveway south of Newman University.
The event is sponsored by the National Association of Pastoral Musicians and by the Wichita Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. In commemoration of the 200th birthday of Franz Liszt, the concert will also feature Liszt motets.
