WICHITA - Catholic Charities has received a matching grant opportunity to help feed low-income children and families through the agency’s food pantry. The agency of the Diocese of Wichita is challenging the community to help match the donation, which is structured as a matching grant opportunity of $100,000.
For every new leadership gift of $10,000, Catholic Charities will receive an additional $5,000 earmarked for the Food For Families Fund. For each new gift or pledge of $5,000, Catholic Charities will receive a matching gift of $2,500 for the Food for Families Fund. The funds will be used to help provide nutritious food and nutrition education to more than 17,000 people.
“Ensuring children and families have enough food to eat is a high priority for Catholic Charities’ family-strengthening focus. We believe helping families become stronger is important for children and for our communities. No child should have to go to bed hungry. No parent should have to make the hard decision between buying medicine, paying rent, or putting food on the table. We are following in Jesus’ footsteps as He taught us to serve and care about our brothers and sisters in need,” said Cynthia Colbert, executive director.
“We are very grateful to our donor family who is making this unique gift opportunity possible. Although they wish to remain anonymous, they are deeply committed to strengthening families in our Diocese.”
