When will construction begin?
The 18-month renovation is expected to begin in mid-June 2011 and conclude in the winter of 2012.
Can I still designate my gift to our Cathedral campus renovation?
Yes, your support is still needed! You can still make an even greater impact with a pledge to meet the Mabee Challenge. And additional support for the renovation will free up more dollars for seminarian education and Catholic formation programs through the Seminarian Education Endowment, St. Katharine Drexel Catholic School Fund and the St. Maria De Mattias Endowment.
How much will the renovation cost?
The total project cost is $16.8 million.
Why is construction beginning now?
Overwhelming support for the TOGETHER vision has enabled us to take advantage of current low construction costs, but your support is still needed.
Who is the general contractor?
Simpson & Associates is the general contractor for the renovation on our Cathedral Campus. Robl Construction is the general contractor for a priests’ residence.
Which buildings are included in this renovation?
- The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception
- St. Joseph Pastoral Center (home to Catholic Charities, diocesan office of Hispanic Ministry and the Parish School of Religion)
- The gym and adjoining meeting rooms
- The old rectory, which houses parish offices and priests’ residence
- New construction for a priests’ residence at 440 N. Topeka St.
