At Camp Totus Tuus, one of the only Catholic summer camps in the state of Kansas, Catholic youth will have an intense week of great fun and fellowship with other Catholic youth from across the Diocese of Wichita and the Midwest while experiencing the power and riches of the Catholic Faith.
The camp “curriculum” is a well balanced combination of sacraments, prayer, and fun. Presentations by counselors, small group discussions, and group activities provide an exceptional learning environment for youth with a wide range of learning disciplines. These learning sessions provide opportunities for the youth to discover more about God, themselves, and their peers.
The primary and fundamental focus of Camp Totus Tuus is the development of the youths’ spiritual lives and their ability to hear God’s call in their life. Holy Mass, Adoration, Confession, the Liturgy of the Hours, the Rosary, and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy are the foundation of camp. Prayer is central
However, because this is a summer to the mission of the Church; as such, Camp Totus Tuus infuses this concept within the youth.camp and not school, fun is equally important and necessary. Games and activities such as Totus Tuus Olympics, swimming, canoeing, skits, and Catechetical Jeopardy keep the atmosphere relaxed yet exciting and allow young people of all interests and abilities to take part and enjoy.
Founded in 1996, Camp Totus Tuus is for youth entering grades 5 through 12 and is held on campgrounds just south of Lyons, Kansas.
Julie J. Toon Memorial Scholarship Fund
Julie J. Unruh Toon (1966-2017) served as the secretary of Holy Name Catholic School in Winfield, Kansas for more than a decade. As an active member of the parish and wife of Mr. Tim Toon, a Knight of Columbus, Julie championed Camp Totus Tuus. In her honor, we renamed our scholarship fund after the beloved friend of the program.
Campers requesting assistance may submit the application below along with a letter stating why they would like to attend camp. Their parent/guardian must also submit a letter outlining their need for financial assistance. We have historically awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to those demonstrating significant need. In every case, we ask that the family contribute a portion of the camp cost. Dozens of kids, who would otherwise be unable to attend, are able to enjoy Camp Totus Tuus because of this fund.
